KÖNIG long span systems: proven in practice

Renovation Westbad and new building indoor pool in Erlangen, lower ceiling made of wooden slabs - KÖNIG behind it!

At numerous construction sites, KÖNIG wide-span girder systems impress with their safety, cost-effectiveness and ease of assembly. We will introduce you to interesting solutions in a loose manner. Today on the example of "Renovation Westbad and new building indoor pool in Erlangen" - sub-ceiling of wooden slabs

Efficient corrosion-protected attachment of exposed ceilings to to wide span girders

The particularities

The suspended ceilings should be fixed to trapezoidal sheets, which presents processors with challenges:

  1. Lack of manufacturer-side planning aids for the assessment of the point loads, as they act on suspended ceilings. As a result, time-consuming verifications by statics offices are required.

  2. Dot loads must acc. DIN 18807-3 be introduced via load distributor in at least three webs, which entails considerable expenditure of time and material.

Our performance

The KÖNIG wide-span girder system M was used in both construction projects. In addition, we provided a static proof of the planned construction for submission to the construction management.

Around the corner thought ...

A special challenge was presented in the Erlangen Westbad: Both in the interior and in the outdoor area, a wooden ceiling is a key design element - only: How to attach to the trapezoidal sheet? ... Trapezoidal sheets require suitable corrosion-resistant fasteners, which must be made of the same material (usually steel or aluminum) - keyword contact corrosion. In order to solve the challenges safely and economically, the visible ceilings were screwed to a wooden battening on our recommendation - corrosion-protected stainless steel screws are no problem here. This wooden batten was attached to our CD profiles with the corrosion-protected KÖNIG screws, which were suspended on the KÖNIG long-span girder system M. Knew how!
